    Thursday October 22, 2009

The UK mobile phone operator 3 has announced that it will offer a mobile phone package that includes a subscription to the music streaming service Spotify.

From November 3 the company will offer an HTC Hero handset on a 24-month contract for £35 per month, with an upfront fee of £99. At launch, the deal will be exclusively on the HTC Hero, a smartphone that uses the Android operating system developed by Google. The subscription fee also includes 3’s usual mix of texts, airtime and free Skype calls.

Charlotte Blanchard, director of Products and Services at 3, said: “We have built this service into an attractive, well-priced package. Over time, our deal with Spotify will extend across a range of our products including mobile broadband.”

Customers who take up the subscription offer will become full premium members of the Spotify service and will be able to access the music streaming service via their home computers, in addition to their mobile handsets.
